After 100 years of kitchen chairs, I think I would prefer the change to a banquette. By a window, nice and cozy ..I will keep the table chair combo for the dining room :)
I love the look of a banquette, but find them inconvenient. Lots of shuffling and everyone needs to move if someone needs to use the loo. I love chairs because they can be moved independently and changed on a whim. My dining room chairs are also so comfy I cannot imagine life without them.
I really love the casual coziness of a banquette, but I totally see Tanya's point about functionality. I actually have an idea to try to add love-seat style seating to my dining table on one side - maybe I can get the best of both worlds this way!?
the vaughns have now experienced both in the btown kitchen. after years of a table, mom has had a small banquette put in. I will say, I really like it. It really fits the little corner well, has a high back, can fit a few people in it if need be, or not, and its cozy. dad got a little round pedestal table, stained it himself, and i think it's great! i think it just depends on the space though.

Banquette definitely!

Totally a banquette! I have a whole board of them on pinterest.

banquette of course and let's talk about how great that bronze shade light fixture is (that was in both the Lonny and Canadian House and Home pics)!!
you know, i really like the u-shaped banquette, but the L-shaped ones (esp. with a round table) not so much. maybe it is a symmetry thing.
banquette - I'm thinking about putting one in our eat in!
