We came, we saw, and we conquered the Antique Fair
Monday, May 24, 2010 at 9:39AM And the Leesburg Premium Outlets.

This is the type of damage 4 friends and a 17 ft UHaul can do in one weekend:

We drove up to Leesburg Friday afternoon, hit the outlets for a few hours and went out to a fantastic dinner at The Wine Kitchen in downtown Leesburg.

We were up bright and early Saturday to buy pie

and get in line for the Lucketts Fair.

Because we had a UHaul we couldn't fit in the regular parking location so we got to park right outside the entrance.

It was so convenient to run back and forth to the truck and unload our purchases so we didn't have to carry them around for hours. The fair was amazing and we had a lot of good finds. But, you do have to act quick because things don't stick around for long. We had the most luck with a vendor called Chartreuse and Co. They had a space at the fair but they also have a barn in Frederick, Maryland, that they have converted to a store (That is basically my dream for my future - their place definitely provided lots of inspiration!). We drove out to their farm to pick up a huge table that I purchased from them at the fair and fell in love with practically everything in their barn.

Overall, it was a very fun and productive day. Not only did I find some things for my own house, but I also found lots of furniture for the bedroom I am working on at my Mom's house.

And I am so impressed that my friends hung with me every step of the way - not everyone can match my stamina and excitement for an antique fair but they were right there with me!
Thanks Shiloh, Lauren and Andrea! It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again!

Wow, so many gorgeous pieces. sounds like fun.
Wow.. you definitely scored! I love it all....
Just came across your blog and I LOVE IT! This shopping trip looks like it was FUN!
I just stumbled on your blog from somewhere (can't remember) - WOW you made out like a bandit at Luckett's!!! Very impressive to bring a UHaul - that's commitment! I love everything you snagged. I recently moved out of the DC area and miss Luckett's and Chartreuse so much. :( Makes me want to go back!
I follow your blog regularly and see that you are often painting furniture. I am considering painting my dining room table (because the wood color is hideous) but don't really know how to go about it. Do you have any tricks of the trade? Any specific type of paint that should be used? Do we need to use a primer or something else that will ensure that the paint will stick? It is a finished wood table and we fear that the paint won't stick. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts as you seem to be the master at painting furniture. Thanks!
